Nika Activators Application Guide
Materials Needed:
- Nika Activator (appropriate volume)
- Nika color cream
- Non-metallic mixing bowl
- Tint brush
- Gloves
- Timer
- Shampoo and conditioner for color-treated hair
Preparation:
- Determine the desired color result and hair condition to select the correct volume of Nika Activator.
- Mix Nika Activator with Nika color cream in a non-metallic bowl following the recommended ratio (usually 1:1 or as specified by the product instructions).
- Wear gloves to protect your hands during the application process.
Choosing the Right Nika Activator:
- Activator 5 vol. (1.5%) for toning or minimal lifting on fine or delicate hair.
- Activator 10 vol. (3%) for darkening or covering gray hair without significant lifting.
- Activator 20 vol. (6%) for standard coloring processes, lifting up to two levels.
- Activator 30 vol. (9%) for lightening hair up to three levels, suitable for balayage or highlighting.
- Activator 40 vol. (12%) for maximum lifting, up to four levels, best used for major color changes.
Application:
- Apply the mixture to dry, unwashed hair starting from the roots for new color or regrowth, moving through to the ends where necessary.
- Use the tint brush for an even application, ensuring all hair strands are well coated.
- Divide the hair into sections to ensure thorough coverage.
- Leave the mixture on hair for the recommended development time, which varies based on the desired color intensity and the volume of Activator used.
Finishing:
- After the development time, emulsify the color by wetting the hair slightly and massaging the scalp and hair.
- Rinse the hair thoroughly until the water runs clear.
- Wash the hair with a shampoo for color-treated hair, followed by a conditioner to lock in moisture and color vibrancy.
Post-Treatment Care:
- Avoid washing hair for at least 24-48 hours to allow color to settle.
- Use sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner designed for color-treated hair to maintain color vibrancy and hair health.
- Limit the use of heat styling tools and always apply a heat protectant to prevent color fading.
- Schedule touch-up applications for regrowth as needed, typically every 4-6 weeks.
