Code Zero Oxidizer Application Guide
Materials Needed:
- Code Zero Oxidizer (appropriate volume)
- Vibrant Colors color cream
- Non-metallic mixing bowl
- Tint brush
- Gloves
- Timer
- Shampoo and conditioner for color-treated hair
Preparation:
- Assess the desired color outcome and the current condition of the hair to choose the correct volume of Code Zero Oxidizer.
- Mix Code Zero Oxidizer with Vibrant Colors color cream in a non-metallic bowl according to the recommended ratio (usually 1:1 or as specified by the product instructions).
- Put on gloves to protect your hands throughout the application process.
Choosing the Right Code Zero Oxidizer:
- Oxidizer 0 vol. allows for custom oxidation percentages, enabling subtle tonal shifts or color deposit without lift.
- Oxidizer 10 vol. (3%) for darkening hair or covering gray without lifting the base color significantly.
- Oxidizer 20 vol. (6%) is the go-to for standard coloring processes that require up to two levels of lift.
- Oxidizer 30 vol. (9%) for lightening hair by up to three levels, ideal for more pronounced color changes or highlighting techniques.
- Oxidizer 40 vol. (12%) offers the highest lifting power for major color transformations, lightening hair by up to four levels.
Application:
- Apply the mixture to dry, unwashed hair starting from the roots for touch-ups or all over for a new color, ensuring end-to-end coverage.
- Employ the tint brush for a uniform application, coating every strand thoroughly.
- Section the hair to guarantee complete coverage.
- Adhere to the recommended development time, which will vary depending on the chosen Oxidizer volume and the targeted color intensity.
Finishing:
- Once the development time is up, lightly wet the hair and massage the scalp and hair to emulsify the color.
- Rinse the hair thoroughly until the water runs clear.
- Use a shampoo designed for color-treated hair, followed by a conditioner, to seal in moisture and enhance the color’s vibrancy.
Post-Treatment Care:
- Avoid washing the hair for at least 24-48 hours to allow the color to set.
- Opt for sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner formulated for color-treated hair to prolong color vibrancy and health.
- Minimize the use of heat styling tools; when necessary, use a heat protectant to prevent color fading.
- Plan for touch-up applications as needed, typically every 4-6 weeks, to maintain the color freshness and cover new growth.
